The Security Service of Ukraine has detained the abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra of the UOC-MP, Metropolitan Arseniy, for his actions aimed at disclosing classified information. This was reported by the SBU press service.

During the liturgy, the Metropolitan illegally passed the addresses of checkpoints of Ukrainian troops to the Russians.

According to the investigation, this happened in the autumn of 2023, and a video with the published addresses was posted on the Lavra's website and in the local group of the Telegram channel.

The SBU notified the Metropolitan of suspicion of disclosing information about the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces, and the issue of choosing a measure of restraint is now being decided.

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime, for which the defendant faces up to 8 years in prison.
