On the morning of Tuesday, June 11, an assassination attempt was made in Zaporizhzhia against local official Maksym Denshchyk, who died in hospital. This was reported by local media with reference to the National Police.
It is noted that the police station received a report that an unknown person had shot at a local civil servant at the entrance of a high-rise building in one of the city's districts. Law enforcement officers said that it is about Maksym Denshchyk.
According to media reports, he was the director of the legal support department of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, but in May he was temporarily suspended from his duties while an internal investigation was being conducted.
Law enforcement officers launched primary investigative actions. Criminal proceedings have been opened over the incident. The legal classification is Part 2 of Article 15, Part 1 of Article 115 (Attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
It is worth noting that at the beginning of May, Denshchyk reported pressure from the head of the Zaporizhzhia RMA Ivan Fedorov and threats of “reprisals”, and soon he was removed from his post.
