Truck with military license plates broke through the border in Zakarpattia: 32 Ukrainians are detained in Hungary

In Zakarpattia region, a GAZ-66 truck with black military license plates broke through the state border yesterday. After that, Hungarian border guards reported the detention of 32 Ukrainians, and the investigation is ongoing.

Local journalist Vitaliy Glagola was the first to report the border breach in Zakarpattia. According to him, the incident occurred on June 9 in the area of Kosyno and Velyka Byihan. Thus, video cameras recorded a GAZ-66 truck with black military license plates 4736 A1 moving from a field road through the field towards the border. Later, the vehicle was found on the Hungarian side, and all the passengers had abandoned it.

State Border Guard Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko commented on the incident.

“The movement of a truck with military license plates towards the border across the field was detected using technical means of terrain control. The response team found traces of the vehicle in the direction of the neighboring country,” said Demchenko.

According to him, during the inspection, it was also not established whether the vehicle belonged to military formations.

He also confirmed that the neighboring country subsequently reported that they had detected the vehicle and detained 32 Ukrainian citizens. In addition, Ukrainian border guards detained several people who may have been involved in the illegal movement of these individuals across the border. They are undergoing filtration and verification measures.

“As we can see, illegal elements do not abandon their attempts to illegally move people across the border. At the same time, the offenders themselves use the services of criminal organized groups that promise to assist them for considerable sums of money,” adds Demchenko.
