SBU detains 19-year-old Odesa resident on suspicion of spying for Russia: he collected data on hospitals and educational institutions for the military

The SBU detained a 19-year-old Odesa resident on suspicion of working for the Russian FSB. He was collecting information about higher military educational institutions and hospitals in Odesa and Zhytomyr regions.

"The enemy was most interested in information about higher military educational institutions in both regions: in which regime they work, whether the personnel has been redeployed, etc. The occupiers also tried to scout the locations of hospitals and other medical facilities where the Defense Forces soldiers are treated,” the statement said.

It is alleged that the Odesa resident received a monetary reward from the Russians for his actions.

"The guy was looking for quick money on the Internet and came to the attention of the FSB. On the instructions of the occupiers, he visited several locations in the regional center every day to find out whether there were Ukrainian servicemen there," - the SBU reports.

The law enforcement officers detained the guy when he was conducting reconnaissance near a facility in Zhytomyr.

SBU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). He is in custody and faces life imprisonment.
