The pre-trial investigation into the tragedy at the funicular station in Kyiv, where a teenager was killed, has been completed. The suspect faces life imprisonment.
“On April 7, an employee of the Administration of State Guard of Ukraine, while under the influence of alcohol and drugs, moving in a funicular car, began to harass passengers, including minors, for no reason. After leaving the car, the law enforcement officer approached the teenager and pushed him through the window. The boy fell, broke the glass with his head, and received a fatal cut to his neck. The minor died at the scene,” the SBI said in a statement.
It is noted that the detainee was immediately suspended from his duties, and his command provided full assistance in conducting urgent investigative actions.
The SBI reported that during the investigation it was found that the deprivation of life of a minor was committed for hooligan motives.
“Therefore, the suspicion was reclassified to Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for life imprisonment,” the statement said.
It is also noted that after the defense gets acquainted with the case, it will be sent to court.
In addition, according to SBI representative Tetiana Sapian, alcohol and marijuana were found in the suspect's tests, which is an aggravating circumstance.
