Deputy Secretary of the NSDC under Yanukovych was accused of treason

Deputy Secretary of the NSDC Volodymyr Sivkovych, who worked during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, was notified of another suspicion. He is called the curator of a network of Russian agents in Ukraine. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.

Today, on the anniversary of the shooting of protesters on Instytutska Street, he was accused of organizing the beating of students on the Maidan - under the article "treason".

According to the investigation, Sivkovych was recruited by Russia back in the nineties, when he was a personnel officer of the KGB and FSB. His task, according to the SBI, was to prevent Ukraine's European integration.

According to the SBI, in October 2013, he met with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev in Odesa, where he was instructed to suppress possible protests due to Ukraine's rejection of association with the EU. And after the first student protests on the Maidan began, he, according to the investigation, organized and personally supervised the dispersal of students on the Maidan from the office of the chief of the Kyiv police.

These events led to mass protests in Kyiv, "increased separatism in certain regions," and "the socio-political crisis has significantly complicated the consolidation of various branches of government to counter Russia's "hybrid war" against Ukraine and the annexation of territories."

"Therefore, by his actions, Sivkovych created exceptional prerequisites for Russia to take active actions to occupy part of the territory of Ukraine," the SBI said.
