NABU told about a new corruption scheme in the Ministry of Defense

Law enforcement officers have exposed a new corruption scheme in the procurement of the Ministry of Defense. The scheme allowed to significantly inflate prices for products. This was reported by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.

As part of an investigation into the Ministry of Defense's catering procurement, detectives confirmed the existence of a corruption scheme. The scheme allowed to significantly inflate prices for certain categories of goods.

"In this way, dishonest suppliers receive excessive profits and actually profit from the army during the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation," the statement said.

As explained by law enforcement, the scheme allowed suppliers to resort to abuses in pricing popular products. For example, eggs were sold at three times the price, and salmon or blueberries, which are not in the military's rations, were sold at prices several times lower than market prices.

Detectives are seizing and processing a large array of primary documents of warehouse accounting of military units and service recipients, which is necessary to establish the volume of supply of all products in the catalog. A number of examinations have been scheduled, and additional materials are being collected.

The State Audit Service has been involved in the investigation.
