US President: peace in Ukraine is possible even without NATO membership

US President Joe Biden emphasized that in order to ensure lasting peace in Ukraine, it is necessary to deprive Russia of the opportunity to re-occupy the country's territory in the future. He noted that this does not necessarily imply Ukraine's membership in NATO.

In an interview with TIME, Biden emphasized that the key to peace is for Russia to never occupy Ukraine. This means that it is necessary to have the same relations with Ukraine as with other countries, supplying them with weapons for defense.

Biden noted that in the past he has opposed the “NATOization” of Ukraine. Biden recalled his previous visit to Ukraine, during which he witnessed widespread corruption in the country.

The US president warns that if the West fails to help Ukraine, the next step could be instability in Poland and the region in general.
