Functionaries of the International Olympic Committee doubt the ability of the Belarusian and Russian athletes to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

This was stated by IOC member Craig Reedy, reports The Guardian.

Continuing aggression against Ukraine reduces the chance of athletes from Russia and Belarus to go to the Games 2024 to virtually zero. Most of the athletes there have been disqualified by their respective federations, which has deprived them of the right to qualify for the Olympics.

"Federations received a clear instruction and agreed not to invite Russians and Belarusians to compete. In this regard, in my opinion, it is unlikely that they will qualify. The exceptions are tennis, judo and cycling, where the federations have done things differently," Reedy said.

The next summer Olympic Games are scheduled for July-August 2024. Paris was chosen as the host back in 2017 at the International Olympic Committee session in Lima.

Earlier IOC President Bach stated that there are no prerequisites for lifting restrictions on the participation of Belarusian and Russian athletes in international competitions. Olympic functionaries are constantly working with the federations to extend the restrictions.

By the way, the International Olympic Committee did not allow the Russian Federation and Belarus to participate in the tender for the rights to broadcast the two Olympics.
