The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine has granted the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) and a number of football clubs the status of critical importance for the functioning of the economy during a special period. This is reported in the relevant orders of the Ministry.

According to the orders of the Ministry of Sports, the following were recognized as critically important:

• Football Club Kryvbas LLC;
• Sports Club Dnipro-1 LLC;
• Football Club Dynamo Kyiv LLC;
• Obolon Football Club LLC;
• PrSC Football Club Shakhtar Donetsk;
• Public Union "Ukrainian Association of Football".

This status has also been granted or confirmed to: Shakhtar Social Charitable Society, Shakhtar Service LLC, public organizations of Kyiv city, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Lviv, Vinnytsia regional organizations of the Dynamo Sports Society, Dynamo Sports Society and a number of other enterprises and organizations under the Ministry's jurisdiction.

As of February, the Ministry of Sports reported that 36 enterprises, institutions and organizations in the relevant area were identified as critical for the functioning of the economy and ensuring the livelihoods of the population during the special period.

In December 2023, the President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Vadym Gutzeit said that some Ukrainian athletes and coaches were booked, but it was not possible to book all athletes from mobilization.
