Election of the new head of the CCU failed

Judges of the Constitutional Court today could not elect a new head of the CCU, said a representative of Parliament in the Court Olga Sovgirya.

 

"The election of the head of the Constitutional Court took place today. No candidate for this post did not receive the required number of votes of the judges," Sovgirya reported in Telegram.

 

As explained the deputy, according to the Constitution, the law and the rules of procedure of the Court, the election of the head of the CCU is held by secret ballot of judges. A candidate is deemed elected if at least 10 judges vote for him.

 

If none of the candidates for the position of President of the Court received the required number of votes, a new election shall be held no later than one month from the date of the previous election of the President of the Court.

 

"Thus, no later than July 15, the Court must hold a new election," she concluded.
