Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, 112 children have died - Office of the Prosecutor General

Since the beginning of the war initiated by the Russian Federation, 112 children have died in Ukraine because of Russian armed aggression. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

 

"As of the morning of the 24th day of the full-scale invasion of the territory of our state by the Russian Federation from the actions of the occupiers killed 112 children and more than 140 wounded. The largest number of victims in the Kyiv region - 57, Kharkiv - 36, Donetsk -28, Chernigiv - 30, Mykolaiv - 21, in Zhytomyr - 15, Sumy - 14 and Kherson - 14 regions," - reported in the prosecutor's office.

 

According to the department, on March 16, 2022, the Russian military illegally seized a house in the village of Kolonshchina in Makarivska OTG, Kyiv region, killing two of its residents, including a 16-year-old teenager.

 

On March 18, 2022, a 16-year-old boy died as a result of an anti-tank mine explosion in the village of Lotskino, Bashtansk district, Mykolaiv region.

 

On March 18, 2022, rescuers retrieved the bodies of 7-year-old twins - a boy and a girl - from under the rubble of the Chernihiv dormitory.

 

According to the prosecutor's office, because of regular bombing and shelling of civilian infrastructure and residential areas by the Russian armed forces, 489 educational establishments were damaged. Sixty-nine of them were completely destroyed. The most damaged schools and kindergartens are in the Donetsk region - 138, Kharkiv region - 77, Kyiv region - 41, Mykolaiv region - 39, Sumy region - 33, Kherson region - 21, in the capital - 43.

 

These data are not definitive, as there is no possibility to inspect shelling sites in areas of active combat operations and temporarily occupied territories.
