Hungarian law enforcement officers will help the Ukrainian police with DNA tests. This is about identifying people who died during the war. Such an agreement was reached during a meeting between the head of the National Police of Ukraine Ivan Vyhivskyi and his Hungarian counterpart Janos Balogh, the agency's website says.

"The heads of the agencies of both countries discussed issues of further cooperation and interaction - in combating illegal arms trafficking, drug trafficking, organized crime, as well as Hungary's future assistance in conducting DNA research to identify the victims of Russian war crimes," the press release of the meeting says.

In addition, the website added that the main area of Hungary's police assistance to Ukraine is explosive safety. In particular, Ukrainian explosive experts took part in 12 courses and trainings on the disposal of explosive devices, the use of robotic unmanned systems, and countering radiation, chemical, and biological threats. In addition, underwater demining courses were held in Budapest for Ukrainian police officers. They were also provided with the necessary equipment and gear to clear enemy traps.

"Today, in addition to their normal police functions, police officers have been assigned new tasks that are not typical for the police under martial law. These include participation in combat operations, stabilization measures, evacuation, investigation of war crimes and identification of unidentified bodies. All the help and support that our partners can provide us in ensuring the activities of our units is important to us now," said Ivan Vyhivskyi.
