The police believe that law enforcement officers should not be involved in issuing summonses to conscripts, as they have their own job function. This was stated by the head of the National Police Ivan Vyhovskyi in an interview with Ukrainian News.
"We have a lot of our own functionality, and we believe that everyone should do their job. We already pick up various issues. Why? Because the police is the largest law enforcement agency, so we lend a shoulder to other law enforcement agencies, and if we don't do this, some important areas of work will simply collapse," he said.
Vyhovskyi explained that the police is engaged in documenting criminal offenses among representatives of TCC and Social Support. Therefore, in his opinion, it is illogical to involve law enforcement officers in issuing summonses.
"It turns out that on the one hand we will be documenting, and on the other hand we will be issuing summonses? So I think we have enough work to do. We are already helping with mobilization as much as possible, establishing the location of evaders," he added.
Vyhovskyi also responded to calls to send police officers to the front.
"This is a very important issue, actually. I wanted to raise it myself, because some citizens, civil servants, and officials say that the National Police has 250,000 police officers and offer to send 100,000 to the front. It is strange when this is said not by "armchair experts" but by people who work in the state system and do not know the basic numbers, although you can contact us and we will provide the staffing of the National Police," he said.
Vyhovskyi said that there are 120,000 police officers in the state. Despite the fact that the maximum number of employees was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
"In fact, we currently have about 100 thousand active police officers, that is, those in uniform. Of these, 20 thousand are women and 80 thousand are men. Every day, about 20 thousand of them go on duty. This is one shift. There are also about 15,000 investigators and inquirers, 20,000 operatives and thousands of people fighting at the front, including the "Rage" unit," he added.
The head of the National Police believes that law enforcement officers are already maximally involved in the Security and Defense Forces, as well as taking care of the domestic front and security inside the country.
