UK Sanctions 31 Individuals, Entities and Vessels Over Actions Threatening Ukraine’s Sovereignty

The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on 31 individuals, entities and vessels under its Russia sanctions regime over activities that threaten Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence, the British Embassy in Georgia said in a statement.

According to the embassy, the sanctions include three individuals linked to Georgia’s Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia: Marat Kambolov, Alan Gagloev and Sergei Tolmachov.

“Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is part of a broader pattern of disregard for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and internationally recognised borders of its neighbouring countries. This includes the continued occupation of the Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

“The United Kingdom condemns Russia’s attempts to consolidate its illegal control over Georgia’s occupied regions, including through the so-called ‘presidential elections’ held in South Ossetia on 18 September and subsequent steps towards de facto annexation.

“The United Kingdom remains steadfast in its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders and continues to hold Russia accountable for its actions,” the British Embassy said in its statement.
