100 km from Kaliningrad: An unknown object fell in Poland

An unknown object fell into a field near the Polish town of Miłakowo (Ostródzki County, warmińsko-mazurskie Voivodeship). The city is located a little more than 100 km from the Russian city of Kaliningrad. This was reported by the Polish publication Fakt.

"We have information that there was an object in the fields. The police were guarding the place," a police sergeant told reporters.

Major of the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division Magdalena Kościńska noted that the case is being investigated by the police and the prosecutor's office, and "the army has nothing to do with it."

"This is a civilian case, not a military one," she added.

Later, the press secretary of the district prosecutor's office in Elblag clarified the information.

"An unknown object was indeed fixed near Morog. Members of the Internal Security Service, gendarmerie and police were working at the scene. According to preliminary data, it is a balloon. It will be subjected to further examination," said prosecutor Ewa Ziębka.
