Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine: Easing sanctions against Russia is a victory for food blackmail

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko expressed his position on the possible easing of sanctions against Russia in exchange for the resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

On his Facebook account, he emphasized that Ukraine does not change its opinion on this issue and believes that any easing of sanctions will be a position that encourages Russia to engage in food blackmail and creates an opportunity for new acts of pressure from Moscow.

"The international community should work to bring Russia back to fulfill its obligations, not to strengthen its sense of impunity and encourage new aggression by offering concessions," said Nikolenko.

The speaker noted that Ukraine is ready to continue exporting grain to Africa and Asia through various routes, including the Black Sea Grain Initiative and "alternative routes through the Black Sea and land routes."

As we reported earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent a letter to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on August 28, offering four conditions for the resumption of the UN-Russia grain deal.
