The Verkhovna Rada Committee will demand explanations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the suspension of consular services for men abroad

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Intelligence wants to summon representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explain the "semi-legal" order to suspend the provision of consular services for men abroad. This was stated by committee member Solomiya Bobrovska on Radio Liberty.

It is noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not submit any amendments during the consideration of the draft law on mobilization.

"I think we will summon them to the next committee to explain what kind of outrage they did not warn us about," Bobrovska said.

She called Kuleba's decision "semi-legal" and believes that it has "questionable results, adequacy and content." After the law on mobilization comes into force on May 18, men of military age will have two months to update their military registration data. Restrictions on consular services should be introduced only after this period.

The MP added that the main purpose of the amendments to the legislation was not to ban consular actions, but to provide Ukrainians with the opportunity to register for military service in order to see "a common resource that exists in Ukraine and outside of Ukraine."

As a reminder, yesterday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs suspended the provision of consular services to men aged 18-60.
