The European Commission will discuss next week granting Ukraine candidate status for EU accession in order to prepare its position for the EU summit in late June. This was stated at a briefing in Brussels by European Commission official Eric Mamer.

"The College of European Commissioners will receive an invitation to hold a debate on this issue (granting Ukraine candidate status for EU membership - ed.) next Monday. It will come out with an opinion at this week's meeting. It won't happen on Wednesday the 15th, but rather on the 17th. And everything else has yet to be approved," Mamer said.

He said Moldova and Georgia will also be discussed.
