The European Commission has called on EU member states to start negotiations on the integration of Ukraine and Moldova. This was reported by Euractiv.
According to the European Commission, Ukraine and Moldova have made sufficient progress to start formal accession negotiations with the EU.
Ukraine has completed all four necessary reform steps, including the fight against corruption, de-oligarchization, protection of national minorities, and restrictions on political lobbying. Moldova has taken three of these steps.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal thanked for the positive assessment of Ukraine's progress in European integration.
He noted that the European Commission had recognized Ukraine's systematic efforts to join the EU and implement all four reforms. Now Ukraine expects its European partners to take the next step - to start negotiations on EU membership this month. The Ukrainian people continue to fight every day for the right to be part of the European family in the conditions of the war with Russia.
