Mikhail Saakashvili is in an extremely serious condition and needs immediate treatment abroad. This was reported by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova.
"Delaying the treatment of Mikhail may lead to his disability, and in the future even to lethal outcomes," she said, referring to Saakashvili's doctor.
Denisova recalled that she had repeatedly noted the need to continue Mikhail's treatment in a multi-profile civilian clinic or abroad.
"I urge the Georgian authorities to provide Saakashvili with proper medical care and to observe the norms of international law. In particular, Article 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, according to which no one may be subjected to torture or inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment," the official stated.
