Former ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova did not submit materials on rapes, which she reported on social networks, to the prosecutor's office. But the ombudsman "sent letters". This was told by the Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova, writes UNN.

"Mrs. Denisova does not pass materials. She appeals to us with letters about such and such conventions, please study such conventions. She sends us letters, but not materials. These are different things. Of course, we take her information into account," said Venediktova.

She could not say exactly how many cases of sexual violence are currently registered, but clarified that those crimes committed in war are considered as war crimes and have no statute of limitations.

Regarding the difficulty of investigating such crimes in conditions of war, Venediktova noted: "When medical expertise is not possible, we can conduct other expert examinations that also testify to the crime. This can be a psychiatric examination and witness testimony.

She added that when investigating such crimes it is important that the victim feels protected and has the strength to talk about the details with law enforcement officers.
