Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has been transferred from the Rustavi prison to a clinic in Tbilisi. There the ex-president must be examined and treated if necessary.
The Rustavi 2 TV channel reports about it.
Saakashvili was brought in this morning. The police cordoned off the clinic's territory, and penitentiary service cars are on duty near the building.
Members of the United National Movement are again demanding that Saakashvili be sent abroad for treatment.
Lawyers insist that as a result of the hunger strike and improper treatment Saakashvili has developed serious diseases and he needs treatment abroad. At a court hearing on April 20, Saakashvili said that he was not feeling well and asked for a doctor, after which he was stopped.
