FT: Russia will face the need for a new partial mobilization by the end of 2024

The need for a new partial mobilization in Russia “will become inevitable” by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. The Financial Times reports this with reference to a source close to the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces.

The Russian authorities may have to “go beyond” the current strategy of recruiting soldiers into the ranks of the Armed Forces, the source said.

In his opinion, such a step may be caused by the need to “preserve the advantage of the Russian army in the zone of military conflict in Ukraine.”

Now the authorities are “ready to sacrifice some operational successes at the front” to “protect society” from participating in hostilities, the source claims. However, without the announcement of a new mobilization, the interlocutor noted, it is impossible to conduct major offensive operations.

It should be noted that earlier the new Russian Defense Minister Belousov said that a new wave of mobilization is currently not planned.
