We will achieve peace on our own terms, just like in 2008 - Medvedev

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev spoke out on Telegram about the situation in Ukraine and compared former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili to a "moron". In his message, the deputy head of the Russian Security Council also emphasized Russia's interference in Georgian affairs, recalling the fifteen-year-old events related to the Georgian conflict.

"Exactly 15 years ago, Russia resolutely responded to the vile attack on Tskhinvali, repulsed the aggressor fiercely. Behind the idiot Saakashvili was the collective West, which even then was seeking to shake up the situation in the immediate vicinity of Russia's borders. Our armed forces quickly and severely punished the enraged nationalists in five days. They protected our people living in Abkhazia and South Ossetia from the enemy. We gave the new states the opportunity to develop with Russia's support," Medvedev said.

He also emphasized that at that time the United States "did not have enough experience" to confront Russia and expressed confidence that in the future Russia would overcome the "NATO system" and achieve the goals of the "SVO".

"As in August 2008, our enemies will be crushed, and Russia will achieve peace on its own terms. Victory will be ours!" declared the politician.
