The occupiers are placing children kidnapped in Ukraine with their own families.
According to propaganda media, it has become known that 27 orphans were illegally removed to Aprelevka, near Moscow. They were placed in temporary custody with ten local families.
This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova.
"Currently, there is no information whether such children have the status of orphans or deprived of parental care and whether the children have relatives willing to take them into their families. We do not know the children's living conditions, their state of health, whether the children's opinions were taken into account when placing them in such families," she said.
Denisova stressed that the removal of Ukrainian children by Russia is a crime that under international law falls under the definition of human trafficking.
"The occupiers' actions violate the obligation of the state to ensure the rights of children in armed conflicts, as stipulated by Article 38 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the norms of Article 49 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, which prohibits the forced relocation or deportation of persons from occupied territory," Denisova wrote.
