Kyiv’s Northern Bridge Fully Restored After October 4 Russian Strike

Kyiv authorities have fully restored a section of the Northern Bridge damaged in a Russian strike on October 4, according to the city’s road infrastructure service.

Specialists from Kyivavtodor-Mist restored the bridge structure and road surface, repaired damaged components connecting sections of the bridge and ensuring its stability, reinforced the damaged road base and covered it with a special metal plate. A new layer of asphalt concrete was also laid across the affected section.

Russian forces struck the Northern Bridge on two consecutive days, October 3 and 4.

On October 3, a Russian jet-powered drone hit the bridge, damaging the roadway and the trolleybus overhead power network and prompting temporary traffic restrictions.

A second strike hit the bridge on October 4, while German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was in Kyiv on an unannounced visit.

The explosion damaged a major heating pipeline running beneath the bridge and injured two people.
