Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the actions of the Russian military in Ukraine and the way Russia wages war - genocide. This is reported by NDTV.
He noted that genocide is an apt description of the Russian attacks in Ukraine.
"I think it's absolutely correct that more and more people are saying and using the word genocide in terms of what Russia is doing, what Vladimir Putin has done," Trudeau said.
"We've seen this desire to attack civilians, to use sexual violence as a weapon of war. This is absolutely unacceptable," he stressed.
The prime minister added that Canada was one of the first countries to initiate proceedings before the International Criminal Court in The Hague to hold the Kremlin leader accountable for his war crimes.
It should be noted that Kyiv will call on the world to recognize Russia's actions as genocide of the Ukrainian people. The VR registered a corresponding resolution.
As a reminder, US President Joe Biden for the first time qualified the atrocities of the Russian military in Ukraine as genocide.
Macron refused to call Russian atrocities in Ukraine genocide and said that Russians and Ukrainians are "brothers". Zelensky plans to discuss this statement with him.
