The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reacted to Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó's words that his country would not allow weapons deliveries to Ukraine through its territory and would not give up Russian oil and gas, calling on Hungary to reconsider its position for the sake of a common peace in Europe.
"We have heard these narratives before, including from Russian officials. We hope that Hungary, as a neighboring state, will reconsider its position for the sake of a common peace in Europe. Now it is not only about the interests and security of the Ukrainian people, but also about the fundamental principles on which Europe, including Hungarian society, is based," Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko wrote in his Facebook.
He stressed that this is not a war of Ukraine, it is a war of Russia against the entire democratic world.
"To support Ukraine with one hand and with the other to finance the Russian machine of aggression by buying oil and gas is, in fact, to give Russia more room for offensive and murder," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry noted.
We shall remind you that Siiyarto earlier said that Hungary did not want to risk the lives and security of the Hungarian people and would not allow the supply of weapons to Ukraine via its territory, and would not give up Russian oil and gas.
