Foreign Ministry reminded that Russia with its war is provoking a food crisis for the whole world

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has recalled that the war launched by Russia against Ukraine and the blockade of the Black Sea ports threaten food problems in many countries of the world.

The Foreign Ministry issued a statement to this effect on April 29.

"According to UN estimates, more than 1.7 billion people are threatened with poverty and hunger as a result of the disruption of the food production system caused by Russia. The Russian Federation continues to deliberately block the sowing season in Ukraine by destroying agricultural equipment and launching missile strikes across the country. We demand that Russia stop the hidden theft of grain, unblock Ukrainian ports, restore freedom of navigation, and allow commercial vessels to pass. We call on the international community to strengthen economic sanctions against Russia in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and a global food crisis," the Foreign Ministry said.

On April 28, after a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine has enough potential to stabilize the global food market, but Russia is blocking Ukrainian ports and destroying the production base.
