Ukraine will stop the export of sugar to the European Union by the end of this year because the volume of exports has almost reached the limit set under the new rules of trade preferences. This was announced by the acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky, Reuters reports.
According to him, the volume of sugar exports to European countries is approaching the established quota. Ukraine is one of the main suppliers of sugar to the EU.
Vysotsky emphasized that other markets will remain available without restrictions, but as for the EU market, its access will be opened only from the beginning of next year, when it will be clear what export volumes are possible.
According to Reuters, Ukrainian sugar was exported to the EU in the amount of 262,600 tons, which is Ukraine's quota for 2024, as specified in the new trade rules.
