The European Union will provide Ukraine with the first tranche of 600 million euros without additional conditions. The total amount of the allocated macrofinancial assistance is 1.2bn euros. This was reported by the website of the presidential office.
President Volodymyr Zelensky is reported to have held a meeting with the executive vice-president of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis. According to Zelensky, the EU decision to allocate 1.2 billion euros was a timely signal to financial markets and should help maintain the stability of the Ukrainian economy.
"Our strategy has worked: talk not about the war, but about the economy. Today is the first day when we have not spent a single dollar from our reserves to support the hryvnia exchange rate," Zelensky stressed.
The parties also agreed that the first tranche of macrofinancial assistance worth 600m euros will be paid without additional conditions immediately after the completion of all necessary procedures.
