Government sets new rules for regional power companies: what will change for Ukrainians

The Cabinet of Ministers has ordered regional power distribution companies to draw up fair power outage schedules. The government has adopted a resolution establishing rules on the distribution of outages, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said during a government meeting.

He emphasized that the importance of fair blackout schedules was noted last time, and now a corresponding resolution is being approved, which obliges regional power distribution companies to ensure a uniform and fair order of blackouts.

According to the resolution, critical infrastructure facilities, hospitals, military enterprises and enterprises performing mobilization tasks will receive priority power supply.

Shmyhal emphasized that government officials are working “on a daily basis” to improve the situation in the energy sector and identified three key tasks: decentralization of the energy system and development of renewable energy, further integration with the EU and expansion of opportunities for electricity imports, and repair and restoration of critical facilities.
