The soldiers who shot the policeman during an attempt to inspect the car were transporting ammunition and grenades. They threw the weapons into a pond. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko during a telethon.
"They were transporting ammunition and grenades. They have already told us where the grenades in the boxes dumped into the reservoir are located. Criminologists, investigators and divers are now working at the scene. As for the weapon used to shoot our policeman, we currently understand where this gun is. The murder weapon has already been seized," the minister said.
Klymenko said that today the murderers will be chosen a preventive measure.
He also spoke about the condition of the second policeman who was injured: "Doctors give positive forecasts."
The minister also gave some details of what happened that night.
"The policemen were on their way to respond to a call to 102. They were taking a detainee, a domestic abuser, in their car. We understand that it was a curfew, which is also in effect in the Vinnytsia region. The police saw the traffic violations committed by the suspects and stopped the car," Klymenko said.
