The USA vetoed the resolution on Palestinian membership in the UN: the reason is given

The United States vetoed a draft resolution on granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations. Washington's decision was supported by twelve states with the minimum required nine. This was reported by Reuters.

During a meeting of the UN Security Council on Thursday, April 17, the United States vetoed a draft resolution recommending that the 193-member General Assembly "admit the State of Palestine to membership" in the United Nations.

Twelve countries voted in favor, overcoming the nine-vote threshold required for a veto. Countries that supported the US position: Slovenia, Sierra Leone, Russia, South Korea, Mozambique, Malta, Japan, Guyana, France, Ecuador, China, and Algeria.

Great Britain and Switzerland abstained from voting.
