Second Ukrainian basketball player who was attacked with a knife died in Germany

Ukrainian basketball player Artem Kozachenko, who was stabbed in an attack in Düsseldorf, has died in Germany. This was reported by the ART Giants basketball club, for whose youth program he played. Earlier, a 17-year-old friend of the athlete, Volodymyr Yermakov, died from his injuries.

After being injured, Kozachenko was in intensive care. However, in recent days his condition has deteriorated sharply. Doctors were unable to save the victim.

"Artem was an integral part of our NBBL U-19 team. We are deeply shocked, saddened and say goodbye to another great basketball talent from our ranks. Like Vova, Artem was extremely popular among his teammates, coaches and friends, and everyone had only positive things to say about him," the club wrote on Instagram.

As a reminder, on February 10, in Oberhausen, Germany, unknown persons attacked two Ukrainian basketball players, Volodymyr Yermakov and Artem Kozachenko. As a result of the attack, Volodymyr Yermakov sustained life-threatening injuries. Artem Kozachenko was taken to hospital in serious condition. German police detained three teenagers suspected of the attack. One of them is a 15-year-old German of Turkish origin.
