Germany admits the possibility of using Patriot to shoot down Russian aircraft in Russian airspace

Germany has said that Ukraine can shoot down aircraft in Russian airspace using Patriot systems provided by Germany. This statement was made by the head of the German-Ukrainian Situation Center, Bundeswehr Major General Christian Freudig, Tagesschau reports.

“It is quite possible that Patriot systems will now be used in the Kharkiv region, and over Russia, they are perfect for fighting Russian aircraftlanes that can drop terrible planning bombs,” the military said.

He emphasized that the responsibility for using the systems lies exclusively with the Ukrainian military.

“They can be used within the framework of international law. We have great confidence that the Ukrainians will not only comply with this, but will also do so with great tactical skill and will succeed,” Freudig said.
