The USA reacted to Zaluzhnyi's resignation: We will continue to cooperate with our Ukrainian colleagues

The United States will support Ukraine despite Zaluzhnyi's resignation. This was stated by Assistant Secretary of the Pentagon Celeste Wallander, Reuters reports.

According to Wallander, President Volodymyr Zelensky has the right to make such personnel decisions.

"Ukraine, unlike Russia, has democratic civilian control over the armed forces," Wallander said.

She noted that the United States respects the decision and will work with whomever the democratically elected government chooses to be the chief of staff.

A similar statement was made by White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby during a briefing.

Kirby emphasized that Zelensky is the commander-in-chief of his Armed Forces, and "he can decide who will be in the military leadership."

"This is what civilian control is all about. We are aware of this. And we will work with anyone who will lead the Ukrainian army. We will continue cooperation with our Ukrainian colleagues," he added.

Kirby also rejected claims that the replacement of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicates "instability" of the situation in Ukraine.
