North Korea decides to update the status of South Korea in the Constitution: what changes are expected

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has proposed amending his country's constitution to recognize South Korea as a separate state. He also warned that North Korea does not want war, but is ready for it if necessary. This was reported by Reuters.

Kim Jong-un expressed his belief that unification with South Korea is impossible. He also accused the neighboring country of trying to destroy the North Korean regime and unite through absorption.

"We do not want war, but we have no intention of avoiding it," KCNA quoted Kim as saying.

The DPRK leader called for constitutional amendments to give South Korea the status of "enemy number one."

According to him, a war with South Korea would lead to its destruction and "incredible" defeats for the United States.

Kim Jong-un also noted that in the event of a war in North Korea, the constitution should reflect the issues of "occupation," "reconquest" and "inclusion" of the South into its territory.
