Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Pyongyang to hold talks to prepare for the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to North Korea. This was reported by Yonhap.
Lavrov arrived in North Korea after his participation in the third "Silk Road" Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, where he accompanied President Putin.
Lavrov's two-day visit comes a month after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's trip to the Russian Far East, during which he, among other things, invited Putin to Pyongyang.
Since that visit, North Korea and Russia have sharply intensified their cooperation, and the United States and other Western countries have reported that North Korean weapons have been shipped to Russia for use in the war against Ukraine.
Pyongyang and Moscow deny the arms deal and say that the Western accusations are not based on evidence.
