President of the European Parliament answers whether it is possible to convince Orban on the issue of Ukraine

The European Parliament hopes that the decision to start negotiations with Ukraine on EU accession will be made positively. After all, there has already been some progress, particularly on the issue of national minorities, which is important for Hungary. This was reported by the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola during the EU summit.

"I get this question (about how to convince Orban - ed.) at every European Council. But at every discussion about sanctions packages. Because I am always interested in whether there will be unity. And it has always been there so far," Metsola said.

The President of the European Parliament hopes that this unity will continue.

"The unity of the European Council on the issues that we believe Ukraine deserves. There have been many conversations and discussions on this issue. And if you look at the progress that has been made with regard to national minorities in Ukraine, which is an important issue for Hungary. We see this progress," Metsola said.

Also, according to her, other issues and cautions that are still on the agenda need to be considered in order to clearly understand that the decision to start negotiations with Ukraine on EU accession will be made positively.

"I hope that in the afternoon we will learn about this decision," the President of the European Parliament added.
