Ukraine and Poland agreed on measures to partially unblock the border. The issue of cancellation or changes to the "transport visa-free regime" was not raised. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
During a meeting between Serhiy Derkach, Deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, and Rafał Weber, State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland, chaired by Jadwiga Emilewicz, Government Commissioner for Polish-Ukrainian Development Cooperation, the following measures were approved:
- opening of the Uhryniv-Dolhobychuv checkpoint for empty trucks: The aim is to increase the border capacity and reduce the congestion at other checkpoints;
- creation of separate passes in the "ECherha" system for empty vehicles: This measure will be introduced at the Yahodyn-Dorohusk and Krakowec-Korcheva border crossing points, where there are physical lanes for empty vehicles on both the Ukrainian and Polish sides;
- a pilot project with registration in the "ECherha" before crossing the border: It will be launched at the Nižankovichi - Malhowice checkpoint and will last for one month.
The press service also noted that the issue of canceling or changing the "transport visa-free regime" was not discussed and was not on the agenda. The position of Polish protesters to grant travel rights only to vehicles with EU registration is considered discrimination against other countries.
The ministries are working on solutions to improve the situation with queues at the border and reduce tensions over road transportation.
