Threat of Hungary's veto in Ukraine's talks with the EU is a cause for concern

Hungary could veto Ukraine's future accession negotiations with the EU. But this would mean irresponsibility of other members of the European Union. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanyshyna, quoted by The Guardian.

It is believed that after the European Commission recommended to the EU Council to start accession talks with Ukraine, all the focus is on the EU leaders' summit to be held in December.

Hungary is expected to block the talks. Ukraine calls on the EU to discuss this issue. Stefanyshyna made the statement at the German Council on International Relations.

"It's about talking to each other, convincing each other and helping those who still have doubts or who are trying to veto the future of Europe, to talk to them and take responsibility for that veto," she said.

Stefanyshyna hints that Ukraine's EU accession negotiations cannot be blocked because of Hungary's decision alone. In her opinion, it is the responsibility of the entire bloc.

"After all, if we talk about the veto of one country on December 15, it will not be the veto of one country. It would be the irresponsibility of others - those who do not build this consensus, who do not work on focusing on the broader picture of Europe's future," the minister emphasized.
