European Commission wants to unfreeze money for Hungary to help Ukraine - FT

The European Commission is ready to unblock 13 billion euros for Hungary, provided that Prime Minister Viktor Orban supports the provision of assistance to Ukraine. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing its sources.

Funds for Hungary may be available by the end of November.

Last December, 22 billion euros in EU funds were frozen for Hungary due to concerns about the "rule of law and human rights." Orban protested, claiming that he would not agree to an increase in the EU budget until Hungary's access to these funds was restored.

The European Commission is proposing to increase the total EU budget by 66 billion euros, 50 of which will be used to support Ukraine over the next four years. Several countries, including Germany, opposed this amount.
