The administration of US President Joe Biden is getting closer to providing Ukraine with the ATACMS missiles that Kyiv has long requested. The decision to transfer the missiles may be made as early as this autumn. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.


At the moment, the decision to transfer the missiles has not yet been approved by President Biden, but administration officials report that they are reconsidering the supply of an army tactical missile system to support Ukraine in its counteroffensive.


The Pentagon has long been reluctant to provide the system, which can be launched from a HIMARS launcher provided by the United States last year, arguing that the US military has a limited supply of the weapon.


However, US officials believe that several factors prompted the Biden administration to reconsider the decision to provide the missiles.


The plans being considered by the administration include the delivery of a limited number of missiles, which may alleviate the Pentagon's concerns about the possible depletion of US stockpiles of these weapons.
