The successful exchange of prisoners of war, the situation around the Zaporizhzhya NPP, as well as the Russian Federation's holding of pseudo-referendums in the occupied territories of Ukraine were discussed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy with the President of Turkey Recep Erdogan during a telephone conversation.
"President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy. The conversation concerned the latest events of the Russian-Ukrainian war. President Erdogan noted that he is very glad that the exchange of prisoners of war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine was successfully carried out after long preparations," the message reads the press service of the President of Turkey, published on Twitter.
Drawing attention to the successful functioning of the agreement on sending Ukrainian grain across the Black Sea, Erdogan emphasized that "a similar approach can be applied to the Zaporizhzhya NPP" and repeated Turkey's offer to mediate in the formation of a demilitarized zone around the power plant.
The president stressed that holding unilateral "referendums" in the regions of Ukraine controlled by Russia would undermine efforts aimed at revitalizing the diplomatic process, adding that Turkey is ready to provide all kinds of support for the settlement of the war through peaceful negotiations, the report said.
