Ukraine calls on the EU to increase pressure on Russia

Ukraine calls on European partners to increase pressure on Russia by introducing a full energy embargo and disconnecting all Russian and Belarusian banks from the SWIFT system. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said this at a briefing based on the results of the Ukraine-EU Association Council.

"We hope that the European Union will apply a global sanctions regime for violations of human rights by citizens of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine before the next Ukraine-EU summit," he said.

The prime minister also listed the types of weapons that Ukraine needs to supply. Among them are air defense and anti-missile defense equipment, anti-ship systems, heavy armored vehicles, MLRS, aircraft and drones.

"We don't see any signs that Russia is ready to end the war. That's why we need more modern weapons," Shmyhal emphasized.
