Polish PT-91 Twardy tanks arrived in Ukraine. Their exact number is unknown. This was reported in Telegram by the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak.
"PT-91 Twardy from Poland are already in Ukraine. Thanks to our friends," wrote Yermak.
The arms transfer was also confirmed by Krzysztof Platek, a representative of the Armament Agency of the Polish Ministry of Defense.
"The deficit of more than 200 T-72 tanks and a certain number of PT-91 tanks will be covered completely, even with a surplus, because these are tanks of higher, higher quality," Platek said.
The PT-91 Twardy is a Polish main battle tank that is based on a licensed version of the Soviet T-72M1. The first prototypes were produced in 1993. The basic version PT-91 was serially produced at the Bumar-Labendy enterprise from 1995 to 2002. Totally 232 PT-91 were produced for Polish Armed Forces.
The tank is equipped with protection using ERAWA's own active armor. This active armor consists of nearly 400 protective blocks that cover the front of the hull and turret. The blocks are arranged almost without gaps from each other.
At the beginning of the fourth Ramstein meeting of defense ministers, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that four additional HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems would be transferred to Ukraine.
