Congresswoman Spartz called for Yermak's resignation

U.S. Congresswoman Victoria Spartz said that OP head Andriy Yermak should resign.

"Many Americans and Europeans have long had serious concerns about Yermak".

If Yermak had been a statesman, as someone with an already dubious reputation, he would have resigned this winter, assuring the Ukrainian leadership that there would be no attack from Russia, which reduced Ukraine's preparedness. However, it is never too late to do the right thing," the congresswoman's statement was quoted by Ukrainska Pravda.

Spartz claimed that Yermak launched a smear campaign against her. In addition, she claims that instead of acknowledging her army and starting a nationwide effort to support it, Kiev, "led by Andriy Yermak, is playing politics." According to her, "Kyiv seems to have money to reconstruct secondary infrastructure, but no money to support soldiers, such as the long-promised housing for ATO fighters."

Earlier, the congresswoman sent a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden asking for an explanation regarding contacts with the OP's head.

In response, the Foreign Ministry criticized Spartz's letter, stating that her actions "are an unconcealed attempt to return classic Russian propaganda narratives about alleged ties between Ukraine's leadership and Russia to American politics and to implicate our state in US domestic politics."

Spartz then said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "must solve the problem" of Andrei Yermak and urged the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to take her statements seriously.

Victoria Spartz is a member of the Republican Party and the first native of Ukraine to win election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020. In April 2022, Spartz was one of the U.S. officials visiting Ukraine for the first time since Russia began its full-scale invasion.
