On Thursday, June 23, the Lychakovsky District Court in Lviv began to consider charges against Victor Medvedchuk of high treason and plundering national values. He faces up to 15 years in prison.

Sessions will be held behind closed doors. As explained by Judge Grigori Zhovnir, it is a criminal case, the investigation of which was announced by the Office of the Prosecutor General in May. According to the same, Viktor Medvedchuk was first placed under house arrest in May 2021.

 

Recall, in 2021, Viktor Medvedchuk was announced several suspicions. In particular, he is suspected of treason and working with the terrorist organization "LDNR".

 

Prior to the war, he was under house arrest, from which he fled immediately after the outbreak of hostilities.

 

Medvedchuk's detention became known in the evening of April 12. He was trying to flee the country.

 

A day earlier, the Lychakovsky District Court in Lviv had ordered that Medvedchuk be held in custody, and today, June 22, it was extended to August 9.
